Culinary schools are becoming increasingly widespread, as more people are beginning to choose careers in the culinary field. This new development is no surprise since the culinary profession is gaining a lot of recognition and importance in today’s economy. Culinary schools are one of the fastest growing educational sectors in America, and the history of this relatively new form of study is as varied as the food industry itself. Culinary schools are popping up like hotcakes across this country.

Students graduating from the majority of the culinary vocational schools are not prepared for the current work situation. Students entering culinary schools are no longer predominantly recent high school graduates. They are former or recovering engineers, lawyers, physicians, architects, software designers, administrators or teachers who have elected to pursue a second career in foodservice, but have no intention of cooking in a commercial situation on a line. Students of these culinary schools are generally provided with all the trainings and learning necessities helping them to excel in their field. There are different specializations provided by the culinary institutes like gourmet, food writer, a baker, restaurant owner and many others.

Programs listed are not offered at all locations. Program lasts 8-11 months and is offered on morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend schedules. Programmes are shaped either for people who are approaching 'the art of Italian cooking' for the first time, or for experts in the field who wish to refresh and deepen their cultural and practical experience of Italian cooking. The establishment has state-of-the-art newly remodeled facilities.

Chef Leslie doesn’t candy coat a career in the food industry. Just the opposite, she comes right out and states culinary school is not right for everyone and most students are not the right type.

Information can be found online or at the websites of these schools. Information about these schools and their programs can be obtained by visiting the school or requesting a brochure. The internet is the best source for locating a good culinary school in your area, since there are several websites that provide information.

Course options offered by the culinary schools are many. Degree courses which include graduate, post graduate and masters, diploma and certificate courses some of them.

Qld soybeans in demand

A top-looking crop of soybeans is catching the attention of road users passing Glenn Porter's Athel Grove, property, Brookstead, where the new Bunya variety is on track to realise 0.5 tonne/hectare.

Also keeping a close eye on the crop is grain merchant and seed specialists, Philp Brodie Grains, with company spokesman Peter Brodie noting the CSIRO-bred variety has both Japanese and overseas ‘parentage' to make it more suitable for producing quality tofu and soy milk.

Meanwhile, Glenn Porter said the crop was planted into a good soil moisture profile on Boxing Day and had been flood-irrigated for the first time some two weeks ago.

Sprayed once for green vegetable bug, Mr Porter this week continues to evaluate paddock moisture levels ahead of a final watering in the run-up to harvest.

On teen's plate, a career in culinary arts

Lozano sat in the office at the Morris County School of Technology, during a break from class, and thought about his future. That's when he shared how he wants to someday own his own restaurant. These days he is working hard to meet that goal at the school, where he was recognized as an outstanding student.

Mason is a sophomore who is enrolled in the School for Culinary Arts Academy. The School of Technology's academies are individual magnet high schools that focus on varied career areas that include construction arts, performing arts and veterinary studies. The school recognized Mason as its February Student of the Month.

An asset in the classroom

"I am glad to see Mason's accomplishments recognized in such a meaningful way. He is not only a fine student, but a great person as well, funny, personable, warm and kind.
